Zones for Manatee Protection Proposed

In the article, “Zones For Manatee Protection Proposed”, the J. Cridlin introduces that The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is waiting to pass a new rule that parts of Tamps Bay is denominate to manatee protection zones. A lot of manatees die by of people’s boat and the number of watercraft is increasing in Hillsborough, Pinellas, and Manatee counties. So, FWC claims that speed of watercraft should be limited 25-mph and this place should be settled idle-speed zone. That is minimum speed to move boat. But boat rental enterprises oppose this rule because it is too restrictive to do well their business. Now both FWC and people who opposed this rule is waiting result of vote.
To begin with, both cons and pros of new rule about protection manatee are reasonable words but environment is more important than profit of boat rental business. I think this controversy is an example about conflict between environmentalists and economists. I agree that economy growth and maintaining livelihood is very important but once the environment is destroyed, it is difficult to recover. Especially, as manatee is endangered animal, we should protect their life.
Moreover, boat rental business can do at other place except manatee protection zone. I believe if the government helps them to fill shortage, their dissatisfaction of damage will be disappeared. Also, they should consider other ways to get profit in order to protect manatee.
Consequently, I believe rules about zones for manatee protection should be adopted for environment and ecosystem. As the speed of boat decrease, the death of manatee could reduce. Therefore, The people who earned living expenses by around the bay like boat rental shop should consider endangered manatee and their ecosystem and protect.
